It’s time to get psyched! Asheville Orchid Festival ‘House of Orchids’, April 12-14, is just around the corner. This months meeting, Sunday March 10, is our last time to gather as a group and go over show prep. Everyone loves our Western North Carolina Orchid Society show. Its great fun, for us and the public. We need each and everyone of you, and your fabulous blooming orchids, to make it work!

It’s heart warming to see all the names on the volunteer sign-up sheet. If you have signed up, I urge you to attend the March 10th WNCOS meeting. And even if you have not signed up, please join us. This meeting will cover all aspects of the show, so there will be lots to learn. We will be discussing what happens before, during and after the festival; and all committees will be pairing off to coordinate plans of action.

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS: We need all the blooming orchids we can get!!! That means yours. Our show, April 12-14, is about 6 weeks away. If you have plants in spike right now, there is a good chance they will be in bloom for the show. Please be thinking of all the orchids you can possibly contribute. This is when you should be staking those spikes so the blooms will present themselves as best they can. Your plants are what make our exhibit ROCK year after year! And there is nothing like finding a blue ribbon on your very own orchid.

One final mention, a great big thank you to Marion Allen for an excellent program last month, a great help in getting us ready for this year’s show.

We will have a free orchid raffle give-away at the upcoming meeting. I look forward to seeing everyone on March 10th at 2:00, for this very important meeting, at the Asheville Visitor Center.
