March 2026 Newsletter

It's time for our WNCOS members to rally—showtime almost! We are strongly encouraging everyone to join us for our next meeting on Sunday, March 8th, to learn more about this year's upcoming Asheville Orchid Festival (March 27-29).. But before we get started on Show Talk, let's have another round of applause for our outstanding member/breeder Mike Mims and his program on Phalaenopsis for our February meeting!"

Our next meeting is so important because it will be our last opportunity to gather together before the 2026 Asheville Orchid Festival, ‘Orchid Kingdom’. While a great number of members added their names to our volunteer sign-up sheet at last month's meeting, there are still a few gaps that need to be filled. I will pass around the sign-up sheet once again on March 8th, as well as discuss what everyone needs to know to once again make the Asheville Orchid Festival (March 27-29) a great success! There will be an opportunity for everyone to contribute, most especially with your blooming orchids!! As always, we depend on you! Did I mention that Leslie and I have built a Castle to showcase your bloomers? This is where our members shine the brightest, filling the display with an abundance of beautiful orchids. Also, during the March meeting, I will explain the very easy process of registering your plants for ribbon judging. Let's face it, what's better than bringing home a ribbon for your orchid growing efforts?"

And of special note, there will be a very robust free raffle table of orchids at this month's meeting, plants sure to be blooming just in time for our show!" So please join us on Sunday, March 8, for what will surely be a lively meeting, at 2 PM at the Ivy Building, 9 Genevieve Circle—and don't forget your Show & Tell orchids.-
