Bill Thoms has been growing and showing orchids for almost 50 years.  He has more awards for Culture, (in just Bulbophyllums), than anyone else in the world (51 so far) – and he and his much-much-better-half, Doris Dukes, together have 105 Cultural Awards in 30 different genera. The American Orchid Society has added a new Annual Award for the Bulbophyllums, the Bill Thoms Award. 

This presentation is called the WAFL-HSE (Waffle House) program, which is all about General Orchid Culture.  It covers all aspects of growing giant, beautiful plants and has tips for the beginner as well as the seasoned veteran grower.

No matter whether you have 1000s of orchids, just a few, or only one, Bill will give you tips to make them grow and bloom more betterer.

He and Doris, (AOS Judge Emerita), sold their collection and moved to Greer, South Carolina in 2021 to pursue new adventures, but have retained all the accumulated wisdom they worked daily to acquire.  He is funny, she is the epitome of grace.
