We are very excited to have the Carolina Judging Center team back in the house for an American Orchid Society judging event. This meeting will be open to all orchid lovers. You might just be next in line for a coveted AOS orchid award. Click here for more information on this grand opportunity.
When the Carolina Judging Center gang are in town, there is a lot more happening than just judging orchids. Be prepared for an incredible educational experience. Not only will you get to witness the process of how an orchid is judged, but the AOS Judges are extremely generous in sharing their vast knowledge of orchids.
If you think that you don’t have what it takes to grow an award winning orchid, just ask WNCOS member and excellent grower Bill Bauman about his AOS awarded Phragmipedium Giganteum ‘Namaste’ AM/AOS. You too could have an award winner blooming on your window sill right now.
Here is what you need to know. The meeting schedule will be very different than usual. If you plan to bring your orchids in for judging, you need to arrive between 11:30 and 12:30 so they can be registered. The actual judging will start around 1:00. Depending on when they finish judging all the plants, probably around 2:30, there will be a Judges Show and Tell program on what they awarded…and maybe what they didn’t award. This part can be the most interesting and educational. So start grooming your candidates, staking up those spikes and get ready for the event.
