This month we hold our annual holiday social in lieu of our regular meeting. It will be on our regular meeting day, Sunday December 13th and will start at 1:00 PM. We decided to hold it at our regular meeting location, the Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center as that seems to be a convenient location for our general membership.

This event will be a pot luck meal, with the Orchid Society providing a holiday ham, and everyone bringing a dish to share. We are allowed beer and wine at the location so please feel free to bring a beverage of your choice. the Society will supply plates, glasses, utensils, etc… A serving spoon or fork for your dish would be appreciated.

The Society will be providing a grouping of mature orchids for a raffle, each member attending will receive a raffle ticket on arrival.

I am pleased to announce that the full event website for the Asheville Orchid Festival is live, including schedules and registration for the event! Head on over to [link redacted] and check it out.

The Show committee is closing in on the benefits package for all WNCOS members for the Festival this year. The show and sales at the Arboretum will be free to all members, as will the Preview Party on Thursday night. Free or discounted admission to the international slate of speakers will be tied to volunteer hours as a benefit (and an encouragement) to the very long list of volunteers it will require to pull this event off. Attendance at the Gala banquet and other meal events will require paid registration to partake in those events as there are direct costs to the society for each additional person attending. We hope to have details finalized before the first of the year.
