August 2024 Newsletter
How about a big round of applause for last month’s speaker, Stephen Benjamin. Stephen demonstrated how to mount orchids, giving all in attendance a chance to mount an orchid (supplied by WNCOS) and take it home!
We have more fun scheduled for August 11th. Unfortunately, our previously scheduled speaker is under the weather. However, WNCOS good friend and orchid extraordinaire Bill Thoms has agreed to pinch hit. Bill will speak on Growing & Showing Specimen Plants. Bill has received more AOS Culture awards for the genus Bulbophyllum than anyone in the world, and is extremely entertaining!
Last month, we were told that our current meeting space will be sold, and we may lose the privilege of meeting there by the end of the year. I have been scrambling to find a replacement space with no success. If you know of a suitable venue to accommodate our group, please let me or any of our Board members know. Contact information for us is listed on the website, wncos.org.
Plan on a robust raffle table this month, and as always, please bring your blooming orchids for Show-And-Tell!
Look forward to seeing everyone on August 11th at 2:00pm at the Asheville Visitor Center. Feel free to come early and socialize.
