July 2026 Newsletter

WNCOS has been on a roll lately, thanks to Nancy Graham who has coordinated such a great run of speakers! And once again, we have another encore performance to look forward to. On July 12th, Stephen Benjamin returns to teach us about ‘Encyclia and Epidendrums’. Stephen has been growing orchids for 60 years and has 50 AOS awards to show for it. It's sure to be a great program, so don't miss it.

I have ordered a pallet load of Orchiata and Tree Fern Fiber from Acadian Supply. They offer wholesale prices to orchid societies when ordering in bulk. The order should arrive next week, so any WNCOS member that wants to purchase bark or tree fern fiber, let me know. I will be bringing as much as I can to the meeting, or you can pick it up at my house as well.

Our annual auction will be in August this year. We have put in orders with some great orchid growers, including Paph Paradise, Gold Country Orchids, Andy’s Orchids and Sunset Valley Orchids. This will be a golden opportunity to add to your collection. I will be posting the list of plants offered as I receive them. The Auction will take place on our regular meeting day, August 9th, at regular meeting hour 2:00pm. Keep an eye on the website for more details.

Please join us on July12th, at 2:00pm., at the Ivy Building on the AB Tech campus. Our speaker Stephen Benjamin will have plants for sale (cash or checks only), so come early to shop and socialize—and don’t forget your Show-and-Tell bloomers!
