March 2025 Newsletter
Helene be damned! We have an orchid festival to put on, and there is no better way to herald spring than with blooming orchids.
The 2025 Asheville Orchid Festival is less than four weeks away, with a great many preparations underway. Here is the latest update: We have eight vendors and at least five sister orchid societies signed up. Of course, WNCOS will be the center attraction. In keeping with the ‘Orchid Arcadia’ theme, Leslie and I are building a Roman Aqueduct for our exhibit, and it’s going to take all the blooming orchids we can get to decorate this 25-foot display! The contribution of Your Blooming Orchids is what will make our exhibit ‘best in show’.
During the March 9th meeting, we will be discussing all the activities of the festival, all the volunteer duties and a brand-new approach to plant registration and ribbon judging. This will be a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of our show. With all the help of our WNCOS members, we will make this year’s Asheville Orchid Festival another great success. Perhaps more than ever, a heralding of spring is just what we need!
For this meeting, there will be a full and free raffle table. All in attendance will receive one free ticket. This is one way to say ‘Thank you’ for all your help.
If you want to do some homework, go to wncos.org under the ‘Festival’ tab and you will find all the details about the show. The volunteer sign-up list is also posted.
Please come to the meeting as it will be our last time to gather before the big event. See you on March 9th at 2:00pm, at the Ivy Building, 9 Genevieve Circle
